July at LHH 2020

Its been a weird last few months, works been steady at times works been dead at times, with corona virus it means a lot of clients are down to reduced walks, so a dog I would see three or four times a week is now once a week, plus we lost a lot of cat sitting bookings, but its not all bad and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

THE HOUSE OF HAPPY HOUNDS.

The House of Happy Hounds offering pet care services in the High Peak for almost 8 years now !! I am just a honest guy, a animal lover, originally from the northeast I have lived in the Peaks now since 2005. And have been dog walking and cat sitting around here since the summer of 2012 offering a very caring, experienced, trusted service for all my wonderful clients. We have centralised the business and as of 2018 I stopped covering the vicinity of New Mills which included Hayfield and Birch Vale, just to cut back on the travel I was doing in the van, I just cover Chinley, where I live, Chapel, Whaley and Buxworth,

So we are currently in lockdown, I am now walking a few clients that need me each week, when It comes to new dog walking enquiries, cat sitting enquires if you could email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk with details and if I can help I will ad you to a list and contact everyone when we open back up properly. With the corona virus pandemic going on and I do not want new clients for the time being.

At Little Happy Hounds, we offer a very reliable, very experienced, selection of pet care services. I am a very small business with no employees, offering a more personalised, service. At Little Happy Hounds, we offer dog walking, cat sitting and puppy visits, in the High Peak, Derbyshire. I am based in the village of Chinley and cover all the nearby towns like Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, I also cover Buxworth as well as Chinley.

With our dog services as a dog walker, we walk in small organised groups, all my clients are off leads, when its safe to do so, we like to go interesting places off the beaten track to make the walk more exciting for our dogs, I like tire them not just physically but mentally with lots of socialising, lots of interesting smells, and lots of time off lead, its the Little Happy Hounds standard since we began life in 2012.

You can find us on Facebook and Instagram and we also have a main website link below. I am police checked, fully insured, a trusted key holder.

Can not believe its only Tuesday

I feel like I have done an entire week of Little Happy Hounds I am a very tired dog walker indeed;  which is annoying as its only Tuesday I am feeling more tired than usual sleeping very deeply struggling too get up nice and early !! This is not a complaint but a observation. Winter lack of sunshine and long dog walks always makes me very tired…

So Monday yesterday we did three one hour walks and today just two one hour dog walks. we have a extra dog this week, a black Schnauzer called Teddy, who I walked once before a few months back he belongs to some family members of my client Monty a lovely cocker spaniel I walk regularly. Teddy is a one off and staying on a long training lead as he can be a bit precious and I am worried he will run away ! As a one off dog walk I don’t mind walking a dog on a lead, as all my little happy hounds regulars are able to be off leads.

Betty in my van today enjoying the new heated seat !

So yesterday the dog friendly walks were, Taxal, Eccles Pike, and my third walk, which was just my dog Scrappy and sisters German shepherd Amy and her rescue dog sister Ruby was along the Peak Forest Canal, I start near Bridgemont walk towards Bugsworth Basin and do a loop around the basin its the flattest walk I do just because I have lost Toddbrook reservoir now and their are not many good walks too do near the Whaley Lane end of town, the girls love that canal walk so all is good !

Today I had two walks my first was Fernilee Reservoir my second was a repeat of a walk I do at Taxal, its rained a bit mostly drizzling which is fine as its been a lot milder this week, the pictures are just a few from the last few days find us on Facebook too follow our adventures in full.

Yesterday I got some cat sitting bookings from the regulars, Queenie booked in for three days in December, more of my regular cat clients in Buxworth added another date too December they already have a week of cat visits booked in,  and this weekend I am now popping in too cat feed Bertie Friday eve, and twice on Saturday!

October 2019 gone so fast

So they do say time flies when your having fun, fun I have had with the doggies and the kitty cats and boom its November already.

So this last week has been great as a dog walker in the High Peak,  its been October half term so a few less dog walking clients and a few extra cat sitting clients is how this usual works at Little Happy Hounds, its been cold all week but very sunny and very dry so we have had some awesome dog walks. I have been avoiding busy areas like Eccles Pike and Goyt Valley as its half term and everyone is off work off school out walking.  So the photos below are just some from this weeks dog walks and cat visit too follow my adventures in full find our little happy hounds Facebook page.  Dog walking, cat sitting, pet care services based in Chinley in the Peak District Derbyshire, I cover Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxworth and other areas in the High Peak.

Little Happy Hounds we began life back in 2012 when we were based in New Mills, and had clients in Marple, New Mills,  Hayfield, Birch Vale, Chapel, Chinley and Whaley. We then moved too whaley bridge and centralised and stopped covering New Mills and Marple, we have recently moved too Chinley, we offer cat feeding, puppy visits and dog walking, I am highly experienced, very caring, very reliable we are a established local pet care services.

OUR DOG WALKING SERVICES.

Good lord the weather this weekend, very very wet, has not stopped raining yesterday was more heavy showers today is just constant rain, so very good time to write a post in our Little Happy Hounds blog.

I am thinking services, so we offer three main pet care services, dog walking puppy visits and cat feeding.  For this post we look at our dog walking services.

As a dog walker I walk in smalll groups off leads, If a client needs me to have their dog longer than just one walk, I do two walks with travel time it takes up most of the day thats our little happy hounds answer to doggy daycare, eventually I am planning to get a license too do doggy care but it will be very selective just for my clients and it will have to work around my dog, this being his house and his rules, he is old now so its not always fair to have a young dog bouncing at him.

So at the moment we do dog nature walks, proper walks, the one hour begins once we are at the walk and out of the car I don’t count travel time, and on quiet days if it is the last walk we often do longer and I don’t charge any extra for that ! I think a lot of these doggy daycare places, especially the ones inside of industrial units, don’t really give dogs what they need, the great outdoors, time spent in nature, all the smells of the countryside.

70869966_2869724663062230_8121434663089602560_n

I prefer the dogs off leads, I have seen dog walkers with dogs on and off on the same walk and its not for me, all our clients need too have adequate recall with my younger clients this is something I actively work on. I don’t offer solo one too one walks as such if people want a quieter walk lower numbers my walk number 3 is always a good option, the lunch time walk gets busy on certain days as does my morning walk, my insurance will be let me take 8 dogs, which too me is shocking my maximum is six and thats only if I can go somewhere quiet and depend on which dogs are on that walk I prefer groups of five and fours.

I prefer going interesting areas avoiding low level walks when I can, like too take the dogs hiking, the Goyt valley,  Eccles Pike, Crackern Edge are places I often go, I have also done walks around Hayfield, and Lantern Pike.

So I have been dog walking professionally now for over 7 years, in that time I think I’ve walked every age, shape, breed of dog going, I have walked black labs, Great Danes crossed with a black lab, a husky dog,  smaller breeds, like chihuahuas, shih tzus, a lot of cockapoos and a lot of cockerspaniels, I have also looked after and walked older dogs, one of my first dog walking clients, in Chapel-en-le-Frith was a older cocker spaniel called Barney,  I then looked after a really old red setter called Ruby and of course their was the lovely Bones, he was some kind of cross a rescue dog he defiantly had German shepherd in him, currently I walk a rescue dog called ruby who is our oldest client at little happy hounds.  Through dog ownership I have expierence caring for dogs even longer than the seven years.

Screenshot 2019-07-05_17-30-34-968

so just before I went on holiday I went to Scrappy’s vets to pick up his flea meds, anyway my business flyer had vanished off their notice board, and the receptionist had no explanation, I wouldn’t normally be bothered however this has happened before different in vets and in both instances another sad dog walker in Chinley’s flyer is still. very much up on the board, so I am not one to hide behind whats going on,basially this dog walker is enlisting her cronies who must work the vets to get rid of my flyer.  They offered to put it back up but it was to insulting to be honest especially wit the sound of recommendations, I  have sent to that vets, as a vets surgery I highly rate them, a lot of my new puppy clients now go to that vets on my recommendation.

Screenshot 2018-08-22_20-47-12

Anyway its fine, I have reposted my flyers on this post below, I apart from blogging and social media I don’t really advertise, so taking my flyer down in the vets wont stop word of mouth so I am happy to accept what this other dog walker has done, I don’t rate her, and will continue avoiding her and recommending her.

sending anyone who feels I am threat or feels the need to take my flyers down or slander me………Peace Love and Light….

Anyway as ever we cover Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxworth, Furness Vale, Whaley Bridge, New Mills High Peak. For cat sitting, pet care, dog walking and puppy visits. our new clients

So I was fortunate this week too meet four beautiful souls and have the privilege of caring for them for five days, four cats, Tinker Bell, Arthur Coco and Sheba. As a pet sitter this is the kind of gig that makes me want to do what I do, they were the sweetest, cutest, hungriest cats, I brought them a piece of string and played with them.  They had just one daily visit, they are house cats so there were litter trays too maintain, anyway loved caring for them, just lovely cats, little happy cats.

Lyme Dog

So we have had some lovely walks this weekend, and today happy Monday, we went to Lyme Park on Saturday, the Goyt Valley Sunday and today, I Eccles Pike for our first dog walk and Lantern Pike for our second.

So Saturday was dog friendly day for the gardens of Lyme Hall Lyme Park Disley. I had my dog walking client booked in Millie the labradoodle and my friends came with their rottie Holly, so we had three dogs, four adults we did the hill and the cage so the dogs had lots of time off lead. The gardens are strictly dogs on leads, it was great we visited the orangery. I highly recommend a day out at Lyme Park gardens with your pooch link below , pics are from that walk.

Saturday doggy walk Fritz & Scraps

One of favourite walks in the Peak District is one I don’t do very often, up to Brown Knowl from Wash Derbyshire, we never got that far yesterday as the weather was terrible we did however do a lovely two hour walk, kind of in-between South Head and Brown Knoll, but we never climbed as far we managed to loop starting before Wash, following signs for Upper  Fold, which is a very cute small hamlet with a few cottages, you then climb up a lane that becomes a rough track for a about a mile up hill, and eventually join a bridal way that goes from South Head, we turned right and headed towards Shire Oak, another small hamlet, high up on a hill, there is a foot path threw it and it eventually took us all the way back down to were the walk had started. Some of the fields we walked threw there were sheep so dogs were back on the leads, however we still managed quite a bit off lead walking, so it was great.

I was walking my client Fritz, something I am always happy to do at the weekend if I am free and my dog scrappy, dogs had a great time despite the rain, both were very tired after the walk myself included.
