Corona-LHH

So a lot has happened in the world since the last blog postwe are currently half way through our fifth week of Lockdown because of the Corona Virus outbreak. Work closed down for four entire weeks, I lost lots of cat sitting bookings, didn’t earn any money at all, then last week I decided I would offer clients walks, demand was very low but I have been doing walks for a very small number of dogs, it was just twice a week last week, three walks this current week.

So during my four weeks away from Little Happy Hounds I enjoyed the rest amongst all the worry, I had a significant birthday which of course was ruined because of the lockdown, I would of soldiered with celebrations at home but my other half was unwell at the same time, so all in all a rubbish birthday!

After four weeks off I was bored, restless, very very anxious about the return to work, so I had just do it clients were struggling for various reasons, financially at the end of the day I have flimsy promise from  the government that they might invite me to apply for a cash grant in May for the payment in June, baring in my last pay cheque from work was end of March and I was down hundreds of pounds because of cancellations, so in the end I had no choice but to go back to work, even when I am earning such a low amount of money least I can afford to buy food now. I am not entitled business grants as I am not LTD, I could not apply for the Derbyshire council grant payment of £500.00 as I don’t have a business bank account I just have my personal current account, so you put your heart and soul into a business I created from scratch, I  work hard, pay my taxes on time for almost 8 years and when the shit hits the fan, i.e corona virus their is no financial help for me at all, lucky for me my partner is still getting a wage as we are married I cant apply for universal credit and we own our house outright, so I do take a moment to remember that during this very difficult time for so many we are actually very fortunate.

So I was little bit of a baby last week and got my other half to accompany me on my walks, the sun was shinning lockdown or no lockdown I was convinced we would run into people, I had had four weeks off the dogs , Ralph George and Max were crazily excited.  This week we went to Combs Reservoir on Monday which was rammed, was hard to avoid people, Tuesday I was brave and went to walk Ralph my client on my own, literally had one dog that day but I helped my clients out walked my own dog with Ralph so that was cool with me,

Peanut and Toby last week.

Then tomorrow got four with my own dog and I am going to be brave and do that on my own !! Go somewhere quiet I am hoping for cooler weather as it makes it easy when you dont have to do low level walks near water which are always full of people, social distancing is hard enough without doing it with four dogs and trying to dodge all the dogs out and about on leads who dislike other dogs its not easy.

I have cancelled all cat sitting bookings for 2020, as we have no idea how long we are in lockdown for, my holidays plans changed so I am now off a week in September , hopefully, I wont be taking new cats this year to much has happened. I am enjoying a slower pace now just a few walks a week, we have this new house of ours we have not even lived here a year yet and we this huge massive garden, flanked by our neighbours field, so we have been busy in the garden, we have views of Chinley churn behind us, its the loveliest house we have ever lived in and we finally have the loveliest neighbours I have ever had, so not to be working everyday does have its blessings, the photos are from the few walks I have done, find us on Facebook to follow our Little Happy Hounds adventures, in realtime, as a dog walker I walk in small groups, LHH is a established business, offering dog walking cat sitting and puppy visits since the summer of 2012, we have clients in Chinley, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge, High Peak, Derbyshire  which are all areas I cover for all our pet care services,  fully insured, trusted key holder, reliable, years and years of experience,

yesterday Ralph and Scrappy

local pet services FAB-UARY.

So work the business that is Little Happy Hounds is booming, got new clients that are a dream, taking new cat sitting bookings with all the new dog walkers coming into the area with loudly branded over compensating vans I am able to keep doing what I do discreetly and its still working we are still getting new enquiries I feel very fortunate indeed.

So new dog Peanut has come into my life two miles down the road from me based in Buxworth she is 8 months old brave well socialsied much loved border terrier, I love her and all my dog walking regulars love her just two walks in I can see her fitting into nicely in the way I do things at Little Happy Hounds.

As a local dog walker, I only cover the immediate local area to me, so in and around Chinley, I cover Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, and Chapel-en-le-Frith I also have some cat sitting clients in Furness Vale, I cant  cover Dove Holes or Buxton as its just a little bit too. far out form the other clients and as of 2018 we stopped covering the New Milld vicinities, New Mills, Birch Vale, Hayfield, I have kept 1 or 2 long term cat sitting clients but with increase of traffic meant I no longer could cover such a wide area and still provide a quality service.

I do a full on hour walk, the travel bit doesn’t not come into that, I have a lot of Whaley Bridge clients I do on the first morning walk, then depending on day on the second walk I have Chapel, Chinley and Whaley dogs so by the time I have done two lots of six dogs its nearly 2:30 and home time for me. For clients I do shorter walks if needed ‘toilet visits’ and I also do longer walks if requested which is basically a double walk, If I get any new enquiries its going to have to be 2 pm walk or any time on Friday which since we give up New Mills has been my quiet day.

Peanut aside I took two cat sitting bookings, one is confirmed and in my diary waiting for lady to confirm the other, and we also heard and are going to meet puppy Ralph on Friday he starts his puppy visits week after next, he will eventually be another new dog walking client twice a day and another cockapoo in my life.

What am now focusing on with the business is to remain a local pet care  business that offers quality over quantity every time, I’m friends with lots of local dog walkers the ones I rate and also home boarding places as its not a service I can provide so networking is very important to me.   I am also focusing on doing dog nature walks making sure every walk I do is an hour plus, when I can I will always do longer especially in fabulous weather,  and just really looking after my clients humans and dogs, making sure I provide the best most personalised service I can, I offer discretion for cat sitting and dog walking when your not home,  I drive a unbranded white van so I can come and go unnoticed  and discreetly.

So this week, we have enjoyed the windy delights of Storm Gareth, I have done dog walks at Fernilee Reservoir, the woods in Hayfield, and on a clients private 7 acre piece of land. As a dog walker I go off the beaten track offering off lead walks, I walk in small groups. When I am not walking the happy hounds I am busy with the Little Happy Cats our cat feeding services, for dog walking and cat sitting I cover Whaley Bridge, were I am currently based top of Macc Road in the Linglongs estate, I also cover Chinley, Buxworth and Chapel-en-le-Frith High Peak.

All the photos in this post is from some of this weeks dog walks and cat visits, find us on social media to follow our adventures.

so just before I went on holiday I went to Scrappy’s vets to pick up his flea meds, anyway my business flyer had vanished off their notice board, and the receptionist had no explanation, I wouldn’t normally be bothered however this has happened before different in vets and in both instances another sad dog walker in Chinley’s flyer is still. very much up on the board, so I am not one to hide behind whats going on,basially this dog walker is enlisting her cronies who must work the vets to get rid of my flyer.  They offered to put it back up but it was to insulting to be honest especially wit the sound of recommendations, I  have sent to that vets, as a vets surgery I highly rate them, a lot of my new puppy clients now go to that vets on my recommendation.

Anyway its fine, I have reposted my flyers on this post below, I apart from blogging and social media I don’t really advertise, so taking my flyer down in the vets wont stop word of mouth so I am happy to accept what this other dog walker has done, I don’t rate her, and will continue avoiding her and recommending her.

sending anyone who feels I am threat or feels the need to take my flyers down or slander me………Peace Love and Light….

Anyway as ever we cover Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxworth, Furness Vale, Whaley Bridge, New Mills High Peak. For cat sitting, pet care, dog walking and puppy visits. With our services we offer personalised, experienced care, we go that extra mile to provide a very loving very transparent pet sitting and dog walker services.

July and August 2018

Its been a busy time not wrote a post for a few weeks. Just have two more weeks left at work before my holiday, I am off to Scotland for the last part of August we have never been that far up to Scotland its a almost 7 hour drive, looks amazing, lots of hills, and lochs, I am looking forward to a week of hiking with my dog and my other half.

I have been crazy busy for cat sitting, I can’t even write down the amount of cats I have looked after, lots of returning clients, lots of longer cat sitting gigs, and lots of new cat sitting clients, we have had three new cat clients in Whaley Bridge. If we find us on Facebook you can follow our petsitting and indeed dog walking adventures.

The long durations I have done have been for Eustace lovely siamese client, I looked after him once a day for 17 days ! So 17 cat visits. Luna and Esmee, a long two week gig then we had a week break and I am now looking after them this weekend. And Rosie, two durations with juts few days off in-between, think I have been looking after Rosie for over two weeks, last Rosie visit is tomorrow. I love the cat side of the busiensss, I want a cat but I got a terrier dog first so I will have wait for sometime before that fantasy is realised.

Dog walking wise, I am much busier than last summer holidays, as last year Mario left, he is now a regular three walks a week client, and we also have newbies, Ozzie, Ralph and Maisie keeping me busy even though my term time dog clients, Monty, Millie, Arthur and Pippa are all off for the six weeks holiday. I have had some really nice dog walks last few weeks, we have been to Fernilee Reservoir several times, walks around Taxal and Wash near Chapel-en-le-Frith, even though its busier this time of year I have been up Lantern Pike a few times with smaller walking groups of threes and fours. All in all I am having a lovely summer holidays, the business is now six years old, and still going from strength to strength now looking forward to my holiday and then we get back I am expecting September to be a very busy month.  I also love autumn so I am looking forward to all the dog walks I can do around here in the High Peak, with the New Mills dogs we tend to go Hayfield, Birch Vale Lantern Pike, with Chinley and chapel clients, we go Combs Reservoir, Eccles Pike, Whaley Bridge dogs we have we go Goyt Valley, Fernilee, Errwood, Taxal, Toddbrook.

http://www.littlehappyhounds.co.uk

So today we have had two dog walks both slightly longer than an hour,  its been a great day, the first walk was Millie the labradoodle, sisters Bobbie and Bridie, cockapoos and Arthur the miniature schnauzer, on the second walk it was Betty the cavachon and Oscar the cavapoo, my own dog came to both walks he is Shih Tzu cross Yorkie. As a dog walker we only walk in small well organised groups, so today was perfect, the weather was a bit foggy this morning but on our afternoon walk it was dry.  My dog walking adventures have taken me today too Whaley Bridge were I did a dog friendly walk I know in Taxal, then onto Chapel-en-le-Frith, too collect one dog onto Birch Vale, for the dog friendly second walk, took us over fields, lanes skirting past the top of Little Hayfield we made our way up too Lantern Pike doggy hike it was incredibly muddy so we had to have bath after. Pictures below are from today find us on Facebook for more pics,
