LHH June onwards

so corona virus has rendered work quiet for me, I did a extra long walk today for cockapoo sisters Bobbie and Bridie, Norfolk terrier Ozzie and cocker spaniel Monty, it was Montys first day back since lockdown so he was last walked in March ! I mean it could be a lot worse, work is ticking along albeit quietly, tomorrow is the busiest day so for now its feet up and writing posts on my blog especially as its raining !

So I initially took four weeks off and reopened putting in strict social distancing measures with my clients, cleaning the van down regularly changing towels and harnesses as much as possible, it doesn’t look like things are going to get better any time soon, apparently death rates of corona are falling, looks like social distancing is here to stay and schools are now staying shut till September so I cant really hang about waiting for normality to come back as its way off, so with little happy hounds being such a small business I will continue to carry on, its business as usual with all our new things in place, so we are in the position to take on new clients, you could find me via our main website http://www.littlehappyhounds.co.uk or on facebook business page, best way to get old of. me is via email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk or call 07732265149.

All the photos on this post are from walks done at the end of May early June, we had a week of really hot weather so I was doing water walks for the dogs in the woods lots of shade, with corona all my cat sitting bookings are cancelled, we will have to see what the future brings regarding that, I am still providing dog walks, I did have a cockapoo puppy I was visiting, when he eventually comes back he will be a fully fledged dog !!

Little Happy hounds, run by just me Aaron, I began the business when we lived in New Mills, we moved to Whaley Bridge, spent half a decade there and then last summer 2019 we opted for a new start quieter life in the near by village of Chinley, its all my dreams come true firstly living in a village not a town and our new house is a very old house and it. happens to in the Peak District National Park Boundary !I still very much cover Whaley Bridge and have lots of clients there we do lots of lovely walks near by!

I am very lucky and fortunate enough to have lots of lovely long term clients, in Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Furness Vale, Buxworth, and Whaley Bridge, High Peak. I am DBS checked, a trusted key holder, fully insured, I drive a van with no company details at all offering a more discrete service for when your pet is home alone !

November 19

So with the run up to Christmas we are busy at Little Happy Hounds, this post is about the business what we do and the walks we have been on in November 2019.If your interested in any of our pet care services please feel free too ring me 07732265149 or email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk with your enquiry, we also have a main website with lots of information, services, testimonials , and gallery http://www.littlehappyhounds.co.uk

So this last few weeks I have been avoiding walking the dogs up on Eccles Pike for various reasons,  the main one being it was October half term so not comfortable taking groups of dogs up there when everyones off work schools are closed.

so I have been traveling further out too make sure my dogs have a great walk, various terrains, quiet places so they can enjoy a proper walk off leads. As a dog walker we walk in small well managed groups, all my clients have good recall so are off leads, the places I have been going are the Goyt Valley and Taxal.  Last year I centralised the business a bit and we stopped covering New Mills, I had a few dogs in New Mills but the majority were in Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Chinley, I basically did this too cut back on car time, it was literally raking too long to pick dogs up, A555 has done many wonderful things including making the A6 much busier.

So I tend too do three one hour groups a day, the first two my morning and lunch time group tend to be busier and my third walk is always nice and quieter less dogs on that walk , so older dogs, ad hoc dogs can go on that walk, just depends what time of day people are looking for, with travel and the dog walks I work 9:30 too about 4 most days sometimes later with the cat visits.

So now I have dog walking  and cat sitting clients in Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge and Buxworth which are very much areas we cover. Little Happy Hounds is fully insured, trusted key holder.  Puppy visits, dog nature walks, and pet sitting.

When I started the business back in 2012, there was not many people dog walking, the few I knew of were word of mouth ‘mature ladies’ shall we say, few were doing it the way I was website, using social media, how things have changed seven years down the line, in the face of all the new competition, we are still here as a small local business, still thriving and still focusing on our ethos, which is to provide dogs with excellent countryside walks and too offer the most caring personalised service we can, here is too the next seven years as I feel with my new van and my new clients our recent move that I am just getting started.

Winter has landed in the High Peak I have some niggling cold which is not. helping but everywhere is feeling cold, wintry, dare I say it very muddy. The next few months are going to be busy with the dogs I walk and the cat sitting bookings, over the Christmas period I take a bit of time off and return second week of January fully charged raring too go. The photos in this blog are all recent from last weeks dog walks and cat visits. find us on Facebook too follow our adventures in full.

Busy week just three days in

What a week, extra work on, toilet visits and extra walks for some of my dog walking clients and this weekend I am cat sitting Tin tin and Ole in Chapel-en-le-Frith,

Today we did three one hour walks, with all temporary lights and road closures it took forever getting around I effectively drove my new work van from 9:30 to 4:30 just breaking too do the actual walks ! It was intense I am hoping praying Sheffield road is about too reopen and my life will be a lot easier, they have closed Sheffield road down and made hayfield road one way in Chapel, then they went onto close Green lane and Charley Lane in Chinley then they put a four way temporary light at the round about before Dove Holes, so ineffective the quickest way to Morrisons for example from sovereign way chapel is via Whaley Bridge, which is ridiculous.

The dogs bless them have been great considering the extra travel time and new wheels. Feeling lucky feeling blessed. Seven years in I feel like we are starting fresh all over again with Little Happy Hounds, we have started to advertise again, various  things, posting on my blogs for one thing, we returned too tweeting from our tweeter feed, a client of mine put my advert up on her tree in her garden near bus stop,  I have signage on my new van for when I am parked up at home I take them off when I am driving around.

The other fresh start is new wheels, so I have said before on countless posts,   no vans, no cages, I have also said no jumping and wriggling about in my car, which sadly a few of the new dogs are doing ( despite being harnessed in)  so they will be crated, I have had some size issues today with one of two the crates I ordered so I am unsure how I am working it just yet ; I do now have one large very secure crate in the van it will take two small dogs, plus the van came with fitted dog guard. When I said no vans I was put off at the size of them, the one dog whose access was awful his tight narrow busy lane has left the building, so my confidence in driving has gone up again I am just trying too be more careful when I am parking up so I don’t scratch and scrape new van ! Its not easy several blind spots for one thing ! The worst thing I have found this week is driving around Whaley Bridge, I was almost hit by a stage coach empty bus I couldn’t pull in for parked cars person in front emergency stopped and the bus well he just pushed his way down anyway even though he then had to emergency stop as my stationary car was stuck I had no were too move…

So fresh new starts ! advertising, new van, and in general feeling very happy and enjoying walking the dogs, making sure they have the walk of their life every time ! my walks this week have been varied, been up Eccles Pike, Taxal and the Goyt Valley.

Easter Kitties.

So I have been rubbish at blogging lately, I have been so busy mostly walking the dogs, that I have not had much time to post about all things Little Happy Hounds, I am currently enjoying some time off work so thought today would be a good day to write a post about what I got up to over the easter break.

I never got around to booking anything holiday wise, it was my partners big birthday so by the time I had organised that then other little things kept popping up and getting in the way so in the end we decided just to take the time off and enjoy our local countryside and go for walks in and around Derbyshire the peak district.

We went on a five mile walk on Easter Monday from Wash up to Brown Knoll,  via Shire Oaks farm, then on Tuesday we did a Higher Disley walk I have not done in ages, over Black Rocks, through the grounds of the Moorside Grange, over Whaley Moor onto Start lane Whaley then back to Higher Disley via back the end of Lyme Park.

I always take a week off at easter, with the dog walking its not easy managing the dogs on walks when everyone is off work, my walks are busy for three weeks over April and Easter as schools close different times so take a breather away from all the crowds is brilliant, I only really took Tuesday to Friday off as I was automatically closed for dog walking Good Friday to Easter Monday, plus I was working I was looking after cats all of last week the last one finished on Tuesday.

So I was looking after the little happy cats, Eustace, Queenie and Roary, I could of had another one but it was to late notice wise, in general its best to book in advance, especially if its a new client or I have not seen the cat in a while, its easter weekend, I had a birthday party to arrange so three cats was quite enough thank you.

Anyway my cat care took me to Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Birch Vale all three of these clients are once a day cat clients. As these are regular long term clients, I have started to just charge one extra visit to cover the easter weekend bank holiday surcharge so say one cat had five visits, three of which fell on Good Friday,  Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday easter Monday, I have added a visit, so charged for 6 visits, again this is because they are regular clients, new clients would be charged double time for easter.

Prices.

So prices changed in 2019 so far clients have been fine about that, one daily visit is £8.00 and two daily visits is £13.00 for up to three cats, bank holidays will incur a extra charge.  Little Happy Cats offers a very reliable a very caring alternative to the cattery, caring for your cats at home.  I am fully insured, CRB checked, a trusted key holder and I have been caring for the cats in and around the High Peak since 2012. dog walker, puppy visits, pet sitting.

Countryside dog walking.

So the big thing I do as a dog walker is I take my clients off the beaten track, all my dogs come off leads on walks, I strongly feel its the best form of exercise for them, I try and work on their recall and my voice command as much as possible. As well as voice control I try very hard to avoid other people. This post in my doggy blog, is about the services we offer, dog walking, cat sitting and puppy visits. Its also about the areas I cover for pet care, we are based in Whaley Bridge Derbyshire, we also cover Buxworth, Chinley, and Chapel-en-le-Frith, we are fully insured, trusted key holder, a small caring reliable local business, all your dealings, all of the care for your pets is undertaken by myself, offering the best personalised care.
