Busy week just three days in

What a week, extra work on, toilet visits and extra walks for some of my dog walking clients and this weekend I am cat sitting Tin tin and Ole in Chapel-en-le-Frith,

Today we did three one hour walks, with all temporary lights and road closures it took forever getting around I effectively drove my new work van from 9:30 to 4:30 just breaking too do the actual walks ! It was intense I am hoping praying Sheffield road is about too reopen and my life will be a lot easier, they have closed Sheffield road down and made hayfield road one way in Chapel, then they went onto close Green lane and Charley Lane in Chinley then they put a four way temporary light at the round about before Dove Holes, so ineffective the quickest way to Morrisons for example from sovereign way chapel is via Whaley Bridge, which is ridiculous.

The dogs bless them have been great considering the extra travel time and new wheels. Feeling lucky feeling blessed. Seven years in I feel like we are starting fresh all over again with Little Happy Hounds, we have started to advertise again, various  things, posting on my blogs for one thing, we returned too tweeting from our tweeter feed, a client of mine put my advert up on her tree in her garden near bus stop,  I have signage on my new van for when I am parked up at home I take them off when I am driving around.

The other fresh start is new wheels, so I have said before on countless posts,   no vans, no cages, I have also said no jumping and wriggling about in my car, which sadly a few of the new dogs are doing ( despite being harnessed in)  so they will be crated, I have had some size issues today with one of two the crates I ordered so I am unsure how I am working it just yet ; I do now have one large very secure crate in the van it will take two small dogs, plus the van came with fitted dog guard. When I said no vans I was put off at the size of them, the one dog whose access was awful his tight narrow busy lane has left the building, so my confidence in driving has gone up again I am just trying too be more careful when I am parking up so I don’t scratch and scrape new van ! Its not easy several blind spots for one thing ! The worst thing I have found this week is driving around Whaley Bridge, I was almost hit by a stage coach empty bus I couldn’t pull in for parked cars person in front emergency stopped and the bus well he just pushed his way down anyway even though he then had to emergency stop as my stationary car was stuck I had no were too move…

So fresh new starts ! advertising, new van, and in general feeling very happy and enjoying walking the dogs, making sure they have the walk of their life every time ! my walks this week have been varied, been up Eccles Pike, Taxal and the Goyt Valley.

Busy August 2017

I have say August has been a world wind, Little Happy Hounds as been very ver busy. We have taken on three new dog walking clients, over two households, and a few new kitties, Kinder and Olive. All our new clients are in and around the vicinity of New Mills. On top of it being mega busy work wise, my mother, sister and my nephew popped up for a few days in the Peak District, my little nephew is dog obsessed so he came on a few of my walks as I was of course working, we took him to Lyme Park for one of my walks, and next day Fernilee, he had a great time, a lot of clients come from homes with young children so I knew they would be child friendly and they were, I realised just how lucky I am with my clients firstly that they are the most sweetest patient dogs ever, but also that I know each of them well enough now their personalities.

As we have taken on two lots of new dogs, Poppy the whippet on a ad-hoc arrangement with myself and Bertie and Millie, as a more regular twice a week, I think for the time being no more new clients, I possibly have space for Thursdays now, and perhaps Monday however once the term timers come back I won’t know how everything is gelling. Bertie is also young and a rescue dog they have not had for long so I am wanting to keep his walks down numbers wise as I am training with him, heel walking and we are going to move onto some recall. Its not that I am picky its that we are a very small business, I am the business, I have no employees, a lot of  my day is spent driving around which is very time consuming so can’t really do more than three one hour daily walks, I really don’t want to take six dogs out unless its absolutely not avoidable so thats it now folks, maybe we will take more clients on for September.  A few pics from the last few days find us on social media for daily updates of our doggy and kitty adventures

Caturday

So rather than tell you about the cat sitting services we provide, I thought I would tell you about my actual morning. So got up and ready grabbed a coffee to take with me and headed straight to Minuits, beautiful black cat, I have been looking after her for two weeks, so today was the last visit. I was greeted by some bits of mouse in her favourite spot, the irony being she is not done that for me in ages, and does it on the last day ! Anyway that was cleaned up, I noticed the floor had taken battering last few days, so I did a quick vacuum session, she was in, bless her, so their was some stroking she was not up for playing this morning I use a piece of string and she seems too love that ! Once she was fed I was off again, this time too see Eustace, he is another one I have had on my books a few years, he is a siamese, I adore him, I can stroke him when he is eaten treats he can be hissy, its his breed but ultimately he is a very sweet kitty, this duration he has so far been following me around which is cute, I am looking after their plants so I did a spot of dead heading the marigolds, fed Eustace give him some treats he too was not up for the string game, plants in conservatory watered, and I was off again. This time I went too see Rosie, Rosie wants a few minutes of strokes and just wants too eat, I give her a chance to go out but she didn’t want too, she has no cat flap you see. Litter tray cleaned, Rosie fed and stroked, I set off for my final cat of Caturday. Another new duration starts today for Roary this is my third time caring for Roary this year, this is going to be the longest period, he now has a cat flap, so can and come go, his litter tray was spotless he did not want too play so lots of strokes, he followed me around the garden and I took some nice pics of him in the grass, and that was Carurday ! As you can see the work is varied all my cats are different, my emphasis for pet sitting is lots of care, care for the pets and also providing a very personalised service, tailoring things for each cat. There is a element of cleaning which varies from client to client. Pictures are from today follow us on Facebook link below for more kitty adventures.

Services April 2017

So we offer a number of services, puppy visits, dog walking and pet sitting. The ones that keep Little Happy Hounds busy are dog walking and cat sitting services. With puppy visits, its often a 1-2-1 visit needed initially, so being a one man band at the moment, it would have to be two visits daily, a shorter one in the morning and longer one after 2, as i am dog walking 10:30 till 2 most days.  A lot of the puppies i use to care for have grown up and become my dog walking clients. Other services i offer for my current clients are, longer or shorter walks, a double walk of need be. Daycare if i am available, toilet visits if one of my dogs is sick or injured and can’t walk and weekend dog walking, if i am available.

Cat Sitting, I am quite lucky to have so many returning cat sitting clients, and i always have room for new clients. I offer a very personalised, very caring service, which i guarantee as i do all the work myself. i meet all new clients before hand to discuss what your cat needs, as each cat i meet is a bit different to the last. I first started looking after friends cats when i was 18, I am now 37 and I have some cats on my books that have been with Little Happy Hounds since the beginning back in 2012.

With pet sitting cat feeding services, you name it and i have done it, litter trays maintained, indoors and outdoor cats, their is a element of cleaning so i will clean up after the cats, hoover sweep , all sorts, I have also looked after quite a few elderly cats, and given them medication, i am insured to do so. I am also a trusted key holder, CRB checked, have been running Little Happy Hounds successfully since August 2012. We have regular cat clients, in Birch Vale, Chinley, Hayfield, Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith, New Mills, and Furness Vale High Peak.

https://www.facebook.com/littlehappycats/

Dog walking, I have some great dog clients. I offer a full hour dog walk, which excludes travel time, i am with each client sometimes for two hours with the travel included. On quiet days, i often do longer walks, its one of the many things i don’t get paid for, not in cash anyway, i get paid seeing how much fun and enjoyment my dogs get. I was quiet last week for easter so i did two 1.5 hour walks on several days. I use to offer solo dog walks, or half an hour dog walks and i use to walk elderly dogs 1-2-1. I just found everyone wanted the lunch time spot, so in the end with out wanting to take on employees and turning Little Happy Hounds into a monster of a business, i cut back focusing on one hour group walks, so depending on what time of day people are looking for I am aways open to offers. I think for new dog walking clients i have available in Whaley Bridge, for the last walk which is about 2, 2:30, on Tuesday and Thursday i think i have a lunch time spot.

On top of running a business, i am also the proud parent of my dog Scrappy, my partner works very long hours, so i am pretty much responsible for my own dogs wellbeing he use to come on most walks on better weather days, now he has a bit of arthritis in his foot, so has cut back on his exercise, so i am trying everyday to get the balance right, juggling his care with work. I only learnt this last winter that he is not bothered about the first dog walk, he will stay in bed fast asleep all i come back for him for walk 2.

I offer dog nature walks, dogs off leads when its safe to do so, we avoid places with cattle,  my great passion in life is walking and countryside, so if you know Derbyshire High Peak, we are spoilt with beautiful dog friendly places to go walking and from my house you can walk into the Peak District National Park and the Goyt Valley. i feel my experience in the last five years as a dog walker is quite varied so i have so much experience, walking six dogs at one time, or walking small dogs, larger breed dogs, young dogs and older dogs. I do not drive a branded company car, i don’t use a van or cages, we are one happy family in the car, some of my dogs go in the boot, some on the back seat, i have seat belt clips, dog guard, i vet all clients regarding travel, as i do not enjoy driving the best of times, without a dog stressing or barking on top of that, plus it upsets my other woofly passengers, we have dog clients in Whaley Bridge, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chinley, Hayfield, New Mills,

2017 story so far…

So far 2017 we have been very busy with the dog walking side of the business, and let me tell you in winter its challenging. Not just the elements, all the dogs need their coats on and off, towelling down, some need rinsing, my footing isn’t great we go hilly places, i slip in mud, slip in ice, with wellies on, with hiking boots on and the whole thing changes me each year ! Ha. So we have had a new full time puppy join our walks, so its been a busy last four weeks.

screen-capture-14

I have had some cat sitting bookings cancel from our regulars, which is fine understandable, so its been a tiny bit quieter on the cat sitting front, last weekend we looked after Tilly and Watson for the second time, so technically new clients. Thursdays we have been feeding cat regulars Honey, Orlando and Beatrice.  From tomorrow we are looking after Pepper, another cat we have looked after a few times a year for the last couple of years, i think the super cute Pepper was a kitten when we started cat visiting her, she’s very sweet always hungry ! As ever we are now taking cat sitting bookings for 2017, I have pretty much organised my own time off this year so i now know when i am around to pet sit and take care of the little happy cats.

First week back Jan 17

What a first week back, been exhausted this weekend. We had very challenging weather all week, from rain, to high winds and snow, and i have a new full time puppy starting his walks with us, the very cute Arthur. Weather wise, next few month are going to be challenging for me, once we get to the end of March thing should get easier.  Obviously snow i have issues with driving, and high winds, it is near impossible as i have five dogs, off leads, nobody is listing as i can’t shout over the wind,

Friday was fine snow wise, most people cancelled, most of the carnage happened in the morning i started later, cars crashed on Macclesfield Road Whaley Bridge, i left the car at home and did, George and Bobbie and Bridie on foot, then after i did Amy and Ruby also on foot as they also live in Whaley Bridge, by then snow had thawed so i drove to New Mills to toilet break Mario as they could not cancel, all in all it worked out okay! We took quite a few cat sitting bookings for some of our regular cat clients throughout the coming year,

All pics are from our first week back after the xmas new year break.

This service is available at the cats home, so the cat does not need the added stress of being taken away from their familiar environment, to a cattery say.
