Back we go.

So we are now back in business have been for a few weeks now, I am now in the position to take on new clients,

all new enquiries can either email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk or 07732265149 or contact me on facebook

https://www.facebook.com/littlehappyhounds/

So I thought needed a nice new post with nice recent photos of the dogs on there walks all these photos are tom the first week of June 2020. As you can see I like to go on proper dog nature walks around Derbyshire off leads, I walk in small well organised groups, I like to make sure my dogs enjoy their walks, are physically and mentally exercised, whilst keeping a close eye on them keeping them safe.

As a dog walker, I walk in small groups, all my dogs are tagged with my details, I walk mostly off the lead, we go on proper nature walks around the Peak District National Park, the Goyt Valley, Taxal and lots of other places ! Other services include puppy visits and cat sitting, I am DBS check I have a certificate for that, I am a trusted key holder and I am fully insured, Little Happy Hounds is small pet care business based in Chinley, we began life in New Mills back in 2012, I work alone have no employees, offering a more reliable, caring service, pet care in the High Peak Derbyshire, we have clients in Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Furness Vale, Buxworth, and Whaley Bridge. I used this blog as a way of posting about the business, I also have a proper website, http://www.littlehappyhounds.co.uk with a gallery, testimonies page and more about the services we provide, we are also on Facebook, you tube and Instagram !

so I am now in my fourth week back walking the dogs after corona virus closed LHH down for four solid weeks,

So finally the guidelines have changed via the CFSG! I was partly  ignoring the government guide lines as to be honest they made no sense to me at all, things like dogs not being walked with other dogs and keeping them on leads not using my van etc , as I had made a concrete decision not to walk dogs from any households displaying corona virus symptoms, so if everyone is well the chances of corona passing from dog to dog via their fur is next to nil, I recognised this earlier on only. now as the guide lines caught up, a few other dog walkers judged me walking in small groups criticised even tried to make out insurance was not covering me well they were all wrong and now it turns out I was right, so I hope they all enjoyed their extra time off doing nothing or enjoyed their 1-2-1- dog lead walks on the pavement,

so just to reiterate Little Happy Hounds is back, but at the moment I only want to work part time, because of COV-19 Pandemic, so I am doing group walks only, small in number and only for households that are not self isolating because of corona symptoms,

As ever I am cleaning the van, leads, towels and my hands frequently, I have advised clients to wipe down their dogs after their walks, as much as possible I am disinfecting as I go along!! And applying social distancing when I am collecting dogs dropping dogs its working really well so I am over the moon really.

DOG WALKERS

Dog walkers can continue to operate and priority should be given to key workers, and shielded and vulnerable people who are unable to make alternative safe arrangements for their dog. Dogs from coronavirus infected or self-isolating households may be walked but if doing so they must be walked after dogs from all other households.

The handover protocol set out by CFSG should be followed with the owner retaining all equipment such as leads. Handover should take place in a room or space large enough for the client and staff to maintain their social distance. Dogs from different households may be walked together as long as dogs from infected or self-isolating households are not mixed with others from non-infected households. Social distancing should be maintained for both the walker and the dogs by keeping the dogs on a lead at all times. Any equipment, including the vehicle if used to transport the dog, must be cleaned and disinfected between dogs.

Little Happy Hounds, pet care services Chinley.

Fully insured, years of experience, we have operated in Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Buxworth and Whaley Bridge High Peak Derbyshire, for almost 8 years this August ! THE HOUSE OF HAPPY HOUNDS.

The House of Happy Hounds offering pet care services in the High Peak for almost 8 years now !! I am just a honest guy, a animal lover, originally from the northeast I have lived in the Peaks now since 2005. We have centralised the business and as of 2018 I stopped covering the vicinity of New Mills which included Hayfield and Birch Vale, just to cut back on the travel I was doing in the van, I just cover Chinley, where I live, Chapel, Whaley and Buxworth,

So we are currently in lockdown, I am now walking a few clients that need me each week, when It comes to new dog walking enquiries, cat sitting enquires if you could email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk with details and if I can help I will ad you to a list and contact everyone when we open back up properly. Corona-LHH

So a lot has happened in the world since the last blog postwe are currently half way through our fifth week of Lockdown because of the Corona Virus outbreak. Work closed down for four entire weeks, I lost lots of cat sitting bookings, didn’t earn any money at all, then last week I decided I would offer clients walks, demand was very low but I have been doing walks for a very small number of dogs, it was just twice a week last week, three walks this current week.

So during my four weeks away from Little Happy Hounds I enjoyed the rest amongst all the worry, I had a significant birthday which of course was ruined because of the lockdown, I would of soldiered with celebrations at home but my other half was unwell at the same time, so all in all a rubbish birthday!

After four weeks off I was bored, restless, very very anxious about the return to work, so I had just do it clients were struggling for various reasons, financially at the end of the day I have flimsy promise from  the government that they might invite me to apply for a cash grant in May for the payment in June, baring in my last pay cheque from work was end of March and I was down hundreds of pounds because of cancellations, so in the end I had no choice but to go back to work, even when I am earning such a low amount of money least I can afford to buy food now. I am not entitled business grants as I am not LTD, I could not apply for the Derbyshire council grant payment of £500.00 as I don’t have a business bank account I just have my personal current account, so you put your heart and soul into a business I created from scratch, I  work hard, pay my taxes on time for almost 8 years and when the shit hits the fan, i.e corona virus their is no financial help for me at all, lucky for me my partner is still getting a wage as we are married I cant apply for universal credit and we own our house outright, so I do take a moment to remember that during this very difficult time for so many we are actually very fortunate.

So I was little bit of a baby last week and got my other half to accompany me on my walks, the sun was shinning lockdown or no lockdown I was convinced we would run into people, I had had four weeks off the dogs , Ralph George and Max were crazily excited.  This week we went to Combs Reservoir on Monday which was rammed, was hard to avoid people, Tuesday I was brave and went to walk Ralph my client on my own, literally had one dog that day but I helped my clients out walked my own dog with Ralph so that was cool with me,

Screenshot 2020-04-29_12-38-47-045

Peanut and Toby last week.

Then tomorrow got four with my own dog and I am going to be brave and do that on my own !! Go somewhere quiet I am hoping for cooler weather as it makes it easy when you dont have to do low level walks near water which are always full of people, social distancing is hard enough without doing it with four dogs and trying to dodge all the dogs out and about on leads who dislike other dogs its not easy.

I have cancelled all cat sitting bookings for 2020, as we have no idea how long we are in lockdown for, my holidays plans changed so I am now off a week in September , hopefully, I wont be taking new cats this year to much has happened. I am enjoying a slower pace now just a few walks a week, we have this new house of ours we have not even lived here a year yet and we this huge massive garden, flanked by our neighbours field, so we have been busy in the garden, we have views of Chinley churn behind us, its the loveliest house we have ever lived in and we finally have the loveliest neighbours I have ever had, so not to be working everyday does have its blessings, the photos are from the few walks I have done, find us on Facebook to follow our Little Happy Hounds adventures, in realtime, as a dog walker I walk in small groups, LHH is a established business, offering dog walking cat sitting and puppy visits since the summer of 2012, we have clients in Chinley, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge, High Peak, Derbyshire  which are all areas I cover for all our pet care services,  fully insured, trusted key holder, reliable, years and years of experience,

yesterday Ralph and Scrappy

Good bye good March 2020.

So a lot has happened for Little Happy Hounds since my last post and indeed  the world. Last week I ceased working following Government advice and went into lockdown to stay safe and stop the spread of the Corona Virus pandemic.

Annoyingly and perhaps ironically,  business was booming, even in the face of all the new dog walkers in their bright shinny branded vans, everywhere I turn there is a dog walker these days, we even have dog walkers from miles away in different counties bringing their dog clients into Derbyshire to gain from the high peak councils non restrictive rules about how many dogs you can take out at anyone time,  these businesses are separate from mine as they about financial gain and maximising profits, I am about looking after dogs going on long walks, I never ever make a decision with money in mind !! I feel like my clients are peoples children and not a commodity item.

I was doing really well through word of mouth clients where recommending me to friends but also another dog walker also got me a new regular dog walking client, greatly appreciated, we had a new puppy, new dog walking clients several new cat sitting clients and then just like that I was stopped in my tracks by lock down.

So most the dog walkers I know and follow have ceased operation, locally but also up and down the UK, with just a few still going, it was predictable to see who would still keep going. I have a key worker on my books, however most my clients where working from home, so following on what the government said I closed down, two Mondays ago. Beyond that I was just not comfortable, going from peoples homes, taking the dogs out and running into people getting to close. The other issue is I have lost a lot of quiet dogs walking spots, for various reasons, I keep seeing  dog walkers on social media still walking round parts of the Goyt Valley which are now strictly no dogs off leads till 31st of July for ground nesting birds,  these dog walkers with their huge groups of dogs all off leads !!! I personally don’t think the birds need 100s 100s 100s of acres of land, eccles pike the entire Goyt Valley,  not to mention Castle Naze which is also permanently has a no dog rule, but rules are rules at the end of the day, so for me to be following this rule struggling with my dogs with where to go and then the newbies coming along and just ignoring the rules, discounting it, its not fair but much  worse than that its just so soul destroying, ours is a trade that needs much more stricter rules.  In this scenario I always have to follow my own advice if I don’t rate the dog walker I stay off their social media, its so much easier that way,  I personally rate and am friends with lots of local dog walkers, which is great, however you cant rate and like everyone !!

I do understand why some people have kept going, with the Government not helping self employed people until June !  I totally get why some people have had to keep going, for me I am married, we own our house outright my partner has a good job, I have savings for a few months at least ,so for me to carry on walking would of been unethical and a bit greedy, beyond all of that I needed a break !

So the uncertainty is an issue, even if Little Happy Hounds comes back after all of this I predict a quiet spell, I know some of my clients have been given their redundancy notice so I am uncertain of firstly when we will be coming back, secondly if I am coming back and  thirdly if I do comeback how the economy might be and how many clients I may loose. The enormity of the situation will have ramifications for all of us for many months too come. So we have no idea how long we will all be in lockdown for I think the news said their are signs the virus spreading is slowing down in the UK, this is week two of lockdown, I know Wuhan China were all this began, had a much more stricter lockdown but the entire place was closed for six weeks !!

My holiday plans this year have all gone up in smoke of course, I was suppose to be going to Whitby next week we booked a beautiful cottage and we where going away to celebrate my fortieth birthday’ which was last week’ so we have now   rescheduled the cottage for September. I wanted to see that East Yorkshire coast line I have  never been, to Whitby and Robinhoods Bay, spend a week walking near the coast total bliss my dog will love it.  I now plan to cancel my other weeks off in July and August  and just take the week of in September!

So yes what a year 2020 has been,  as a dog walker in the almost eight years of existence this is by far the worse thing to ever of happened. My heart goes out to the families of the 1000s of people this virus has taken, hope we will beat this and have a vaccine before to long ! So I will leave this here, stay safe everyone, I will be updating my facebook pages and Instagram ! Be sure to find our little happy hounds page !

Little Happy Hounds, based in Chinley Derbyshire the Peak District, our pet care services include cat sitting, puppy visits, dog walking, fully insured years and years of hands on experience, very reliable, caring DBS checked, trusted key holder, we began life back in New Mills in August 2012 my emphasis as a pet care business is to take the dogs on proper long one hour walks, and to provide a very personalised and caring cat feeding service.

. We cover High Peak, Chinley,  Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Furness Vale and Chapel-en-le-Frith

half term high peak.

So this post in my dog blog is about half term in the High peak and challenging weather we have had this week as a dog walker, its pretty much rained, rained heavily lots of flooding all over the uk, we have had two storms, today was just the icing on the cake, very heavy rain indeed.  Its not been easy I cant stand driving around watching the roads flood as its only in recent years its happened I have lived around here since 2005.

:- new clients Lupo and Fridgey.

so I have had a few dogs off this week with the holidays but let busier as I have cat sitting several lots of cat clients.  I have a new cats sitting client in Chinley, last year we had two new clients in Buxworth, I very much want more pet sitting clients nearer to home, as its weekend and evening work and I don’t particularly want to head into new mills twice a day at the weekend,

It was all very last minute booing with newbies so I had not met them when I collected key, until today, I was pleasantly surprised at them both female, Lupo and Fridgey, they are both so stunning, Lupo very tactile. They are having a once a day cat visit, are outdoor cats, just feeding, litter tray maintained. Mother cat sitting clients I am caring for at the moment are Esmee and Luna, over in New Mills, the last visit is this Saturday I have been popping in once a day now for almost two weeks !! Tomorrow is a dead day so my weekend starts this eve, got just one walk tomorrow two cat visits, I am hoping for a dry day we will see.

Luna and Esmee clients since 2016.

Just a reminder, I am newly based in Chinley, but have been covering this village for pet care services since August 2012, some of my first clients were in Chinley and Chapel. Initially we lived in New Mills, then we spent five years in Whaley Bridge, then June 2019 we have moved for the long term to Chinley, Little Happy Hounds is a local caring pet care business, I am fully insured, DRB/police checked, I am a trusted key holder, reliable and very experienced in pet sitting, dog walking and puppy care, if you here any different ‘consider the source’ ….

FAB FAB FEBRUARY.

Firstly February has been the cat sitting month, I have taken a new booking for June, but also I was looking after Polly, then Baz Aggie Lennie, then currently Esmee and Luna for two weeks we half way there with that, then Thursday and Friday I popped in on Queenie to do a short two day duration for her, and last night a new cat visit duration started for Ole and Tin tin till Sunday more.  So what I am wanting to do with the cats is cut back especially on twice a day visits and the ones that are far from home, when it comes to the evening and the weekend I don’t actually want to drive far to cat feed, money is okay but its not amazing especially when you count unsociable hours and the cost of diesal, so I am going to be much more careful about what I do. Which includes no more cats in New Mills.  I have a lot of cats I see in Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith even one or two in New Mills, but what I don’t have is any in Chinley so until that happens I am happy to cut back on the far away ones like New Mills, I know I am only in Chinley but to much driving makes me stressed, also the roads, percent state of being dug up, parked cars everywhere you go so lots of stop / start it can be a nightmare driving round here.

So the dogs !! so Peanut a border terrier came to me via another dog walker sending me the enquiry so I have thanked her for that and puppy Ralph has come to me via my some of my long term clients so what I am realising more more, writing blogs, social media , flyer dropping ‘ if I do that ‘ only achieves so much, the real form of advertisement now is word of mouth and reputation, so I am glad that it is working for me, as I am over the moon with Peanut firstly and also the prospect a young puppy going us.  Peanut is great she’s been on three walks, gets on with everyone is a typical high energy terrier she is only 8 months old I am very attached to her already !! She is also awesome in the van as she first to be collected its another five stops before we get to the walk it took almost an hour last week before we got to walk.

So puppy Ralph starts twice daily week after next, I went to meet him and he’s adorable, glad to report he is completely different personality to a cockapoo puppy I took on last year which did not work out, the other cockapoo who joined me last year Gracie is absolute angel, she is high energy dog and I always look forward to her twice weekly walks, so with Ralph I will have four cockapoos on my books in the history of Little Happy Hounds Ralph will be number six !! So I would say I know the breed I definitely love the breed thats for sure.  The other thing I love about Ralph is he is apricot coloured, Max, Bobbie, Bridie and Gracie are all jet black, Gracie has some amazing grey making on her face, the first Betty I looked after years ago was amazing array of colours, white , black patches of tan! So plan is to work with Ralph during puppy visits, he will be getting some puppy training of a trainer and then I am hoping he can join group walks at 4 to 5 months old, I am not rushing though when he is big enough older enough has recall etc,  very exciting times only second month of the new year and we have new dog and new puppy !

84935259_3193033107398049_487386961695211520_n

Ralph

So what I really need now is new dogs on Fridays ! When the last few New Mills dogs left in 2018, as I was centralising the business it left a gap on Friday, usually this would of filled very quickly but combination of not advertising and all the new dog walkers meant had no enquiries that day !! I enjoy being quiet on Fridays but again I still need a new dog or two that as at the moment I am not actually covering the fuel I am using to collect the few dogs I have !

So February has been kind month for Little Happy Hounds,  minus the weather bit, I have not enjoyed that at all, I am looking forward to March. Both work wise and personally March will be a great month !! firstly Its my very significant birthday and I have one or two little things planned to mark the occasion as its a big one, but I am also entering a new era, I want to focus on my health now and try and get a bit fitter, I am also returning home for few days going up to Newcastle, to see my dad, I have not been to Newcastle since 2017 I think.  And just before easter we were planning a long weekend away for my birthday and we were thinking Robins Bay, Whitby kind of area I have never been and its suppose to a area of outstanding beauty for walking, so we have to get a wriggle on and get that organised I have already booked time off from work.

for all new enquiries or more information you can visit the main website ,

http://www.littlehappyhounds.co.uk

We are also on Instagram, Facebook, and twitter,

little happy hounds, dog services, began life in New Mills in 2012, we offer dog walking, cat sitting, puppy visits and other services, like smaller pet visits, or toilet visits or home visits for elderly or injured dogs.  I am fully insured, offering over seven years of hands on experience from a established pet care business,

Little Happy Hounds pet sitting and dog walking services,  is a local business based in Chinley with clients in Furness Vale, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak, I am a trusted key holder, police checked, very caring, highly experienced. For discretion when your pets are home alone, I don’t wear company uniform or drive a branded van, I strongly feel its safer that way.

Aaron 07732261549 or email info@littlehappyhounds.co.uk

https://www.facebook.com/littlehappyhounds/

local pet services FAB-UARY.

So work the business that is Little Happy Hounds is booming, got new clients that are a dream, taking new cat sitting bookings with all the new dog walkers coming into the area with loudly branded over compensating vans I am able to keep doing what I do discreetly and its still working we are still getting new enquiries I feel very fortunate indeed.

So new dog Peanut has come into my life two miles down the road from me based in Buxworth she is 8 months old brave well socialsied much loved border terrier, I love her and all my dog walking regulars love her just two walks in I can see her fitting into nicely in the way I do things at Little Happy Hounds.

As a local dog walker, I only cover the immediate local area to me, so in and around Chinley, I cover Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, and Chapel-en-le-Frith I also have some cat sitting clients in Furness Vale, I cant  cover Dove Holes or Buxton as its just a little bit too. far out form the other clients and as of 2018 we stopped covering the New Milld vicinities, New Mills, Birch Vale, Hayfield, I have kept 1 or 2 long term cat sitting clients but with increase of traffic meant I no longer could cover such a wide area and still provide a quality service.

I do a full on hour walk, the travel bit doesn’t not come into that, I have a lot of Whaley Bridge clients I do on the first morning walk, then depending on day on the second walk I have Chapel, Chinley and Whaley dogs so by the time I have done two lots of six dogs its nearly 2:30 and home time for me. For clients I do shorter walks if needed ‘toilet visits’ and I also do longer walks if requested which is basically a double walk, If I get any new enquiries its going to have to be 2 pm walk or any time on Friday which since we give up New Mills has been my quiet day.

Peanut aside I took two cat sitting bookings, one is confirmed and in my diary waiting for lady to confirm the other, and we also heard and are going to meet puppy Ralph on Friday he starts his puppy visits week after next, he will eventually be another new dog walking client twice a day and another cockapoo in my life.

What am now focusing on with the business is to remain a local pet care  business that offers quality over quantity every time, I’m friends with lots of local dog walkers the ones I rate and also home boarding places as its not a service I can provide so networking is very important to me.   I am also focusing on doing dog nature walks making sure every walk I do is an hour plus, when I can I will always do longer especially in fabulous weather,  and just really looking after my clients humans and dogs, making sure I provide the best most personalised service I can, I offer discretion for cat sitting and dog walking when your not home,  I drive a unbranded white van so I can come and go unnoticed  and discreetly.
