service spotlight- puppy visits.

So away from the dog walking one of the services I provide at Little Happy Hounds is puppy visits / puppy care/ puppy sitting.  I provide puppy visits in the areas of Chinley, where I am based, Whaley Bridge, Buxworth, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Furness Vale, High Peak, Derbyshire. Other areas maybe covered, for enquires, call 07732265149 or visit main website

or find us on Facebook,

I can also be emailed directly

So like most of our services this is a very personalised service. I call in to visit a young puppy, once or twice a day, break up a long day at home alone, feed them, provide company, cuddles, playtime, and I also offer praise based training, recall, bite inhibition and lots of socialising.

I am not a trainer at all so I strongly advice all clients with puppies to join a puppy training class, I have to say in the years I have been a dog walker it shows which puppies have not been to a class and which ones have.

A lot of dog walkers especially around here, offer puppy visits but do they do offer the training I do alongside my visit or is it just cuddles ? I am big believer in socialising little and often with young dogs,  every scenario going, walks in busy places, people, walks near busy roads, its important to get your puppy use to lots of different sights and sounds, I also do recall, toilet training,  socialising and bite inhibition, what tends to happen at Little Happy Hounds the puppies eventually go onto to one of group dog walks, which is really special for me as I have obviously built up a very strong bond with the puppy so for them to become my dog walking client is a honour and I find the ones that have been my puppies first, listen to me, have excellent recall and are very happy well rounded dogs.

My experience, is varied, I have read puppy training books, I recommend serval to my clients, I also have puppy experience through dog ownership and of course I have puppy experience running little happy hounds for the last 8 years I have cared for many puppies during this time.

Like with all our services, I am fully insured, we are a small local business I have no employees all the care is provided by me, I am DBS checked and that certificate can be viewed at your meet and greet upon request, all the puppies you will see in this post on this dog blog are current dog walking clients that I have had the pleasure to care for from being tiny little happy puppies !

other services include dog walker, cat sitting and pet sitting.

Busy August 2017

I have say August has been a world wind, Little Happy Hounds as been very ver busy. We have taken on three new dog walking clients, over two households, and a few new kitties, Kinder and Olive. All our new clients are in and around the vicinity of New Mills. On top of it being mega busy work wise, my mother, sister and my nephew popped up for a few days in the Peak District, my little nephew is dog obsessed so he came on a few of my walks as I was of course working, we took him to Lyme Park for one of my walks, and next day Fernilee, he had a great time, a lot of clients come from homes with young children so I knew they would be child friendly and they were, I realised just how lucky I am with my clients firstly that they are the most sweetest patient dogs ever, but also that I know each of them well enough now their personalities.

As we have taken on two lots of new dogs, Poppy the whippet on a ad-hoc arrangement with myself and Bertie and Millie, as a more regular twice a week, I think for the time being no more new clients, I possibly have space for Thursdays now, and perhaps Monday however once the term timers come back I won’t know how everything is gelling. Bertie is also young and a rescue dog they have not had for long so I am wanting to keep his walks down numbers wise as I am training with him, heel walking and we are going to move onto some recall. Its not that I am picky its that we are a very small business, I am the business, I have no employees, a lot of  my day is spent driving around which is very time consuming so can’t really do more than three one hour daily walks, I really don’t want to take six dogs out unless its absolutely not avoidable so thats it now folks, maybe we will take more clients on for September.  A few pics from the last few days find us on social media for daily updates of our doggy and kitty adventures

Little Happy Hounds

dog walking in New Mills is one of the best places to be a dog walker. Having lived in the town for 9 years, i know lots of places, fields, woods, hills.

I prefer walking my clients off leads whenever possible, this is the best exercise for dogs, so I often walk in small groups in very quiet locations.

We often avoid Mousley Bottom, the Sett Valley Trail, as they are always busy, and if you have a group of dogs some of whom are only young and still learning its best to avoid other people. Whaley Bridge is also brilliant for dog walking with places like Fernilee Reservoir and Eccles Pike near by.

Snow 2014

Its been five months since we left our tiny house in New Mills and moved to Whaley Bridge, and our very first Christmas and boxing day ‘in our new house’ is going to be one of the most memorable ones for years to come, as it snowed, very heavily on Boxing day 2014, this highlighted just how high up and hilly our new street was and also how much closer we are to the countryside and Buxton.

The very next morning we went for a walk with my dog Scrappy, up near by Taxal Edge, and what a sight snow everywhere you looked, all over High Peak and looking back towards Bowstones.

Our services 2015 and onwards

Little Happy Hounds, professional, caring, personalised dog walking and pet sitting, Whaley Bridge High Peak.

Dog Walker.

Leaving your dog at home on their own is never ideal, but here at Little Happy Hounds, we aim to make it that little bit easier by providing a professional, fun and affordable dog walking service that you and your dog can rely on.

We aim to exercise your dog and give them the chance to socialise with other dogs, meaning your dog is returned home content and physically tired, so that they will be relaxed & settled, resting until you return home from a busy day at work.
On a typical walk, we will collect your dog from your home and at a time convenient to you. Whatever the weather, we will safely transport your dog by car (or on foot depending on your location) to some of our favorite places, Lantern Pike, Mousely Bottom,  Taxal Edge, Sett Valley Trail, Eccles Pike and more.

We’ll do everything we can to ensure that your dog returns home safe, content and very tired! We’ll also clean up muddy paws with a towel if need be.

Our policy at Little Happy Hounds is to stay ‘small’ and ‘local’. Dogs are only ever walked in groups of up to four at any one time in local areas, guaranteeing a more personalised, safe caring service.

We also offer a free consultation at your home or in a near by park, before we take on any new clients where your dog gets to meet us and we can get an idea of your dog’s personality and what their specific needs are.

Cat Sitting.

your away on business for work, or on a family holiday, here at Little Happy Hounds we offer a kinder alternative to the cattery for your feline friend.

‘Leaving your cat in the place they feel most relaxed, their sanctuary, their home.’

We can feed your cat while you’re away, clean out their litter tray, provide fresh water, provide a stroke, a cuddle, or perhaps a brush down or anything you specifically require for your cat.

At Little Happy Hounds we pride ourselves on being able to provide a experienced, reliable, personalised and friendly service.

We can bring your milk in, collect your post off the floor, if you need a plant or two watered, we do not mind, with no extra charge at all.

Free initial consultation, where we can find out what you specifically need for your cat, and then you can relax knowing your cat will be lovingly taken care of in their own home.

Puppy Visits.

Puppies when they are young need company. They also need feeding up to four times a day, they need any accidents cleared up and they need some training. Having raised puppies ourselves, we are very experienced in this area. We can come and visit your puppy when your out at work all day, let them out into your garden, feed them, play with them and give them lots of attention and care, and break up a long day for them.

This is a great opportunity for us to build a bond and trust with your young puppy, incase they become one of our dog walking clients, after they have been fully vaccinated.

We offer basic reward based training, we help with socialising and we make sure your puppy is happy and content when we leave.

We cover New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Furness Vale, High Peak.
