its now New Years Day 2021, what a year 2020 was, I was actually lucky enough to be busy as a small business as the world fell apart with the pandemic, Brexit, the race rows in America, and now we are about to start mass vaccination program in the UK and the end is in sight, in this blog I will look at little happy hounds as a business who we are what we do and where we are going in 2021, happy new year.
So the last two Christmas’s and New Years we have not been at home so this year was our first Christmas in our new house Chinley, just the two of us with Scrappy the dog was a very relaxing chilled quiet Christmas, just before tier 4 kicked in we went for a walk with two friends and that was the only socialising we have done this Christmas, so we are now in tier 4 which is going to make my job a lot harder, as everyone being off work and told to stay at home is code for driving back and forth to the supermarkets and picnic on eccles pike in a large group during the storm, well thats definitely what was happening on the run up to Christmas,
So last year some dogs went due to covid, but we took on Peanut the border terrier cross and Wilf cockapoo, before March lockdown, then once I returned to work we took on bassetoodle Zelda, then her aunty a golden doodle called Maude, a vizsla called Sienna then another vizsla called Lizzie, Bichon Frise toby who joined me early summer, his owner is a trending client I use to walk her shih tzu buster, so Toby joined us, fell in love with this little Bichon and he left us in September they have relocate to Hyde, and lastly we took on a whippet type cross breed lurcher doggy called Indie, who is still young fluffy its hard to describe how he looks, so very happy as business in the face of pandemic is still booming, a lot of long term clients reduced their days that they need me which is fine id rather they did that then leave all together, so very happy as I don’t really advertise its all word of mouth and of course now we have a lot of dog walking competition in this area.
So changes are I have reduce the cat sitting side of the business due to covid, I lost so many bookings and it just changed my mind about it as a service, so I am only covering cats near to home as its a lot of evening work lot of weekend work, I have kept a few long term clients dotted about but also let a lot of cat clients go that was not working for me, its not that I am being picky as I work alone, I am out walking dogs all day, we get to the evening and weekend and I don’t particularly want to drive out anyway I have spent my entire working week driving sitting in road works, so yes partly due to the road works I have cut back on m car work completely. Little Happy Cats was once booming and now its something I do occasionally and more locally.
With my doggies I walk in small groups, as its taken a bit longer than I anticipated settling a few of my new dogs into my routine, I have been turning down a lot of new enquires, now we are in the new year 2021 I might start looking to see if we can take on new dogs. at LHH I do a one hour walk that begins when we get to the location, you wont see me doing 40 minutes as I count travel or because the weather is crap and I don’t do twenty minute walks and stand in a spot throwing a ball catcher for the dogs. I make my walks fun, lots of exercise, physically and mentally, socialising, I make sure my dogs are happy contended and looked after, its an hour for them to socialise and mingle with their dog peoples think it gives my clients a break the dog a break from their humans, as everyone is working from home now these days.
So as a dog walker I have walked doggies, in this area since the summer of 2012, so have a lot of hands on experienced, I am reliable very caring, fully insured, DBS checked, I have a clean driving license no criminal convictions or cautions, paper work can be provided for my DBS, I offer dog walking, puppy visits and cat visits, Chinley, Buxworth and Chapel-en-le-Frith High Peak, Derbyshire.
